Alpheus Expands Fiber Network to Corpus Christi

April 21, 2006 (Houston, Texas) - Alpheus Communications is expanding its Texas fiber footprint by activating a metro network in Corpus Christi. The wholesale broadband provider announced that it has acquired three fiber rings in Corpus Christi to combine with its existing long haul network to make Corpus its sixth Texas market. Broadband circuits and high speed Ethernet connections became available to business, government, and telecom carriers during the first quarter of 2006.

The Alpheus network connects premiere telecom carriers and businesses in Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Forth Worth, and Austin. Alpheus’ Corpus Christi network will provide access to most commercial locations in the city. This new network will be capable of providing all of the metro transport services available in Alpheus’ other markets (DS-1 to OC-192, managed waves and gigabit Ethernet).

“We believe Corpus is an underserved market. A number of our Wireless and VoIP customers want our service here and I’m glad we have found a way to deliver,” said Paul Hobby, CEO of Alpheus Communications. "Our network adds a meaningful differentiator for economic development in Corpus Christi. Broadband infrastructure is increasingly important."
